Notes on the storage and installation of CLT solid wood elements

Storage on the construction site

  • Use shims
  • For horizontal stacking of components, arrange layer and intermediate timbers on top of each other
  • Tilt-proof storage
  • Remove the wrapping film to prevent condensation
  • Protect components from rain, splashing water and rising damp with sufficient ground clearance and tarpaulins
  • For longer storage periods, arrange additional wooden supports to prevent creep deformation
  • Covers help to avoid soiling visible surfaces
  • Ensure adequate ventilation to prevent discoloration due to moisture build-up during construction (e.g. from screed or plaster work)
  • Dry components that have become damp immediately but gently

Assembly of the components

  • Installation must be carried out in accordance with the installation instructions
  • Components must be protected against rainwater and building moisture
  • The components must be covered until the final weather protection is completed
  • Avoid soiling and protect components with a cover or similar if necessary
