The special CLT roofs (L-elements) are designed for use in ceiling and roof structures that are primarily subjected to bending. The outer layers are oriented therefore in longitudinal direction of the panel. The cross-laminated timber elements enable finished soffits and contribute to living comfort and a positive indoor climate thanks to the large amount of wood used. The large mass of wood is particularly noticeable in summer thermal insulation. A pronounced phase shift and amplitude attenuation of the CLT components effectively prevent attic spaces from overheating during the warmer months.
Summer thermal insulation
Wood has a high specific heat capacity of c = 2100 J/(kg·K). Thanks to the mass of wood used, cross-laminated timber (CLT) construction offers clear advantages in room-enclosing components compared to lightweight structures. With a comparable U-value, the thermal storage mass can be up to three times greater. This increased mass results in a significantly longer phase shift and greater amplitude attenuation, which noticeably improves indoor comfort during the summer months by keeping heat out. Large outdoor temperature fluctuations are transmitted to the interior only about 12 hours later – during the cooler night hours.
Simple supporting structure
Roof constructions with large-format cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels allow for simple and straightforward supporting structures. Depending on the application, the roofs can even be built without purlins and rafters. This results in enormous time savings during the construction phase.
Surfaces in visible quality
You can choose from a variety of surface finishes. We offer CLT in the following quality grades:
- Industrial quality (IQ)
- Industrial area quality (ISQ)
- Living area quality (WSQ)
This makes cross-laminated timber not only a high-performance structural material, but also an economical and individual solution for interior design with finished ceiling surfaces.
Pre-assembled lifting gear
Lifting equipment or recesses for lifting gear are planned in advance and pre-installed at the factory. This allows for quick and efficient assembly directly from the truck. Examples of planned lifting systems include:

Large-format elements
The special CLT ceilings (L-elements) are designed for use in ceiling and roof structures. Ceiling and roof structures which are primarily subjected to bending stress. The outer layers are therefore oriented in the longitudinal direction of the panel.
Depending on the application, lengths of up to 16 meters and widths ranging from 1.20 to 3.50 meters are possible.
No swelling and shrinkage deformations
The crosswise gluing ensures a high degree of dimensional stability. In contrast to solid wood or Glued laminated timber the material no longer "works" significantly, even with changes in moisture, the wood is not damaged at the board level. The crosswise structure is 'locked'. Swelling and shrinkage deformations can therefore be virtually eliminated.
Likewise, CLT boards allow for a better fit due to the board layers glued at right angles. biaxial load transfer (longitudinal and transverse support behavior) and making, for example, cantilevers possible.
